Thinking about TV

What does the television do to me?

My mother was watching drama. It's a typical Pinoy drama that has a story where the protagonist is being deliberately made to endure things that do not favor him. Things that do not happen in real life at all!

I remember Jopet Pedroso saying that I should avoid drama because drama drains people of energy. I want my energy to remain intact so I turned off the TV and played Pachelbel's Canon in D. It was more pleasant.

Reflecting on it, the TV:

  1. Pollutes my mind with unnecessary programs
  2. TV's gives me the capacity to judge easily. Instead of reflecting on myself, I tend to judge whatever I am watching and ignore conquering my own short comings.
  3. Instead of doing, I watch. -> Complacency, Procrastination, kaka-analyze, napaparalize

Funny thing is that there is a big TV in our living room. I use it for my presentations and trainings ;)

Nowadays I avoid TV's, especially TV dramas. Giving my best effort, if it's not good mind setting, then I say no.

Mom notes reflection

In 2001, my mother underwent a spine surgery due to a growth in the thoracic region of her spine. Her symptom that time was that she was not able to urinate properly.

For the past couple of months, my mother experienced numbness in her lower extremities. Due to that, it was a challenge for her to walk. She visited her doctor from 10 years ago. She was advised to get a new MRI scan of her spine.
A regrowth in the same area was found. It was causing her numbness and difficulty in walking. Due to that, on Valentine's day of 2012, she underwent the same operation she had more than a decade ago.
Thankfully, the operation was easily successful. After 6 days of rest, she fully recovered.

Reflecting on it, I remembered several of things

1. Health is the most important aspect of life
Be thankful and take good care of your health and the health of your loved ones.
When you lose your health, all other areas of your life will easily be affected.
Your financial life. You will have to spend money to recover your health.
Your relationships. When you lose your health, everyone around you may suffer.
Your intellectual life. You won't be able to focus on improving yourself.
Everything stops until you get your health back.

2. Whatever is happening in your life, accept that it is happening, allow it
You simply just don't have to fight it. Fighting it will only amplify the non-positivity. Focus only on the positive things, the solutions, and the actions that will make the situation better for everyone. Entertaining non-positive ideas will only distract you on what should be done.
Do your part, and the rest will flow back into your favor.

3. If you work only for money, you will be a slave to it.
Whatever you are doing, find purpose. Do it for service to others and God. Do it for personal growth. The money follows. If you work only for money, you will never be happy. Money is important in all aspects of our life, yes. But your money will always be too little or too much until you let go of your love of it.

Now
I'm happy that the operation was very successful.
I'm thankful that my mother is happy because all of her body functions are now normal.
I'm thankful that my mother stays very strong during this challenge.
I'm thankful, that with God, I, too, am able to stay strong.
I'm thankful that our friends and relatives continue to support us.
I'm thankful that we made it through this challenge with ease.
I'm thankful that my grandmother is helping me take care of my mother.
I'm thankful that the doctors and nurses in Capitol Medical Center are so generous and kind.
I'm grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful life, full of color and experience.
I'm grateful that the nurses and doctors in the hospital are very kind and hospitable.
I'm grateful that everyday in every way, my mother's health is becoming better, better and better.

My Reality

NOW
While everyone else is sleeping, I am working.
While everyone else is playing, I am working.
While everyone else is taking a vacation, I am working.
While everyone else is taking a break, I am working.

5 Years from NOW
While everyone else is working, I am sleeping.
While everyone else is working, I am playing.
While everyone else is working, I am taking a vacation.
While everyone else is working, I am taking a break.

Ask and you shall receive and Naruto

Naghanap ako ng magandang animated movie last month, binigay sa akin in the form of Naruto Shippuuden. Nung hindi na fillers yung episodes, gumanda ulit :)

Several things I love about it:
Acceptance and acknowledging your shadow. (Naruto during the waterfall training)
Whatever your circumstance, filling yourself with love will make you happy. (Kushina as a Jinchuriki)
Being grateful and cheerful even though everyone is against you. (Eight tails growing up)
Knowing the bad, but seeing and focusing only on the good in everything and everyone. (Eight tails)
The love of a parent to his/her child is powerful and genuine. (Kushina and Naruto)

Galing no?
