Christmas Vacation 2006: Day 15

What the hell, I cannot believe it has been 15 days already since I have started slacking around. I just remembered that I would have an exam on January 5.

A while ago, I got up early, at around 10 in the morning, because my mother woke me up to register as a voter here in Pasig. I did not really want to, but there was some ad shown on TV saying that tomorrow is the last day of registration for voters, for the 2007 elections. I got convinced that I should go though.

So we went and when we arrived at the municipal hall, there were hordes of people in front of the entrance. As much as it dismays me, almost all of them were going to register, too. Some other, well, including my mother, were there to accompany some of the registrants. We went into the crowd, and found that there was someone speaking on a megaphone. Then the people said she cried. She probably felt helpless because many people were asking her many questions. After minutes of standing with the crowd, we decided to step back and sit away from the crowd. Then a guy from the Commission on Elections started a speech using the megaphone. He made many remarks that I did not like. He clearly blames the people for not registering early. Then he defended the COMELEC by stating that they have limitations in equipment and stuff. Finally, he just said to everyone to just go back at 6 in the morning the next day to get a number then wait 2 hours in order to register because office starts at 8 in the morning. Come on, 6 in the morning? Are you kidding?
