Episode 1:
The beginning is creepy. The drawing for the death gods is creepy. The Japanese spoken english is creepy. The first death is creepy, it got me goosebumps. Everything seems to be creepy but then Ryuk says something about globalization. Something about writing the instructions in his? (I still don't know whether Ryuk is a male or female, but he does sound like a male, so I'm using he) notebook in English because he says it is the most popular language in Light's world. I do think the author is saying something though.
What happens to the Death Note if it falls into the ocean or if it falls into the crater of an active volcano? Does it burn or something? What will the death god who lost it do?
What happens when all the pages are filled?
Receiving the death note and utilizing it makes Light a death god. I mean, he can kill anyone, anytime.
When Ryuk said that anyone who uses the death note will not make it to heaven or hell, I thought, the possible places he could be referring to are the realm of the death gods or possibly the purgatory.
Very interesting start.
Episode 2:
I just can't help but watch.
There's that creepy Japanese spoken english, again.
The death note is not invulnerable. It can burn.
The limitation of mass media (TV, radio, print, internet) has been pointed out. There are some information that you just won't find, things you just can't find.
Also the apple thing (Adam and Eve), it's just the other way around. It's kind of weird.
Episode 3:
Ryuk is pretty funny. He got creeped out because of the guy stalking Light. He also started acting like a death god.
The idea of being in the field.
How would you feel if you are a criminal and your father is in the team hunting you?
Episode 4:
Fuck, the anime is too good.
So Light discovers his stalker using the death note.
Episode 5:
They integrated date and time now.
Ray Penbar is shown with his fiancee. He is such a patriarch. Then there is the plans for a family. He is probably going to die and his fiancee will continue the case.
Just as I expected, the fiancee will continue the investigation.
Episode 6:
Happy new year! I just can't help but watch.
Light's father and the other people part of the investigation met L, Ryuzaki.
Light met up with Ray Penbar's fiancee. As expected, she is awfully good. Feminism, I suppose.
Episode 7:
Light is very sharp and evil.
I feel sorry for Naomi. Though I never would have thought that she would trust anyone, after Ray's death. Specifically, I never thought she would commit the same mistake as Ray. I wouldn't know, but if I were in her situation, I would not believe Light when he said that he is part of the Kira case. Light would have dealt with Ryuk in order to get Death God's eyes.
Episode 8:
I hate surveillance cameras.
Light is pretty rich having bought that Mini TV and throwing it just like that.
Episode 9:
Pretty good development, L purposely went into Toudai to get closet to Light.
This Light character is excellent. He's an evil hypocrite who can perform both in a manner that does not harm his reputation.
I must really commend Tsugumi Ohba for creating such a good series.
Episode 10:
That Ryuzaki guy, I don't think that someone who has such posture can be too good in any physical sport.
The profit maximization issue just popped in my head when the media guy said that his staff should do even fake stuff in order to get good ratings. Seriously, irresponsible media...
Episode 11:
Why does it have to be this brilliant?
The twist of having another death note owner but with death god's eyes is pretty darn awesome. I was thinking of the role of that girl in the opening but it made perfect sense when she was shown.
Seriously, I thought Light is sickest and most demented character in the series. Having someone crazier than him makes the show even more interesting.
The gods have gender. Since Rem is supposed to be a female, Ryuk is most probably male.
Episode 12:
The character Misa is pretty cute, as I'd expect. There might be a chance that Light will like her and they will develop a relationship, or so.
Killing a death god surely is romantic. But its just that the death god should write a name (human only?) in his/her death note, and, supposedly, love is the only thing that can trigger that.
The story of Jealous is pretty touching. I wonder why it has to be Misa.
From the beginning of the anime, the gods have been taken lightly.
Do death gods who lose their death notes see each other?
Can't wait for the next episode. :D
Episode 13:
After a long wait, I finally got to watch the 13th episode. Fuck Viz.
Fortunately, there are other fansub groups that are not stopping with the sub yet.
So death gods definitely see each other when they are on Earth.
As to the idea of Light liking Misa, it is clearly not possible in the current context of the anime. Light will just use Misa, I feel bad for her. Unfortunately, she is too naive and Light is too evil.
I find it very funny that the voice actress of Misa is Aya Hirano, the voice actress for Haruhi Suzumiya, because they are two completely different characters. Haruhi is very egotistic and dominating, while Misa is submissive. Although, the thing is, they both look cute.
Episode 14:
The idea that L considers Light a friend is cool. The thing is that you just can't distinguish if L is just acting or not.
Episode 15:
Poor Misa, being tortured like that.
I wonder why Light said goodbye to Ryuk. Maybe he's going to give up ownership on his old death note and use Rem's death note in order to destroy evidence or something.
Episode 16:
So Light gave up on the ownership of Rem's death note. He then decided to get confined to give up on Ryuk's death note in order to forget about him being Kira. Very clever move.
He forgets that he is Kira but the criminals get killed anyhow. Light buffered them, lol.
What's really exciting is the future event that Light rediscovers that he is Kira. It really is impossible that Light will completely give up rights to the death note.
I can't really understand why Light's father can't accept that his son may be Kira. Is it pride or something else?
Light's expression really changed when he discarded the death note. It became more gentle. Come to think of it, I now remember the character who seems to resemble Light, Hisoka from Hunter X Hunter.
Episode 17:
Morals? What morals? I can't believe that those words came out of Light's mouth after manipulating Misa and doing all the other things that he has done. I wonder if he is just faking it.
The death note is being used for profit maximization now. Rem probably went to that guy because Light told her to.
Episode 18:
It is obvious that L is obsessed with catching Kira. Constructing a very tall building for the workers is simple proof of that. Just think about the purpose of the building after Kira is caught.
Another impressive twist in the story is that politicians have been threatened to stop the police from hunting Kira or the latter will kill them too. This made it possible for L to work with 'underground professionals'.
I suppose that is an idea of Light as well.
L's highly secure building is easily infiltrated by a thief (dorobo). It's weird.
Episode 19:
Matsuda is being shown to be stupid. He gets himself inside the Yotsuba group building and fails to keep his presence hidden.
Although he has been shown that way, he really is not, well at least not all that much. That is because of the fact that he understood and replied well to L's phone codes.
A funny thing is that Matsuda actually thinks of his unorthodox infiltration to be something to be proud of.
Another funny scene in this episode is when L is discussing that they should never be discovered to be investigating the Yotsuba group, and then Matsuda gets caught.
The Yotsuba building security sucks. Matsuda was able to get in without much trouble. In addition, Wedy was able to hack the security of the building and was able to put the video cameras in the meeting room.
Episode 20:
The new opening rocks. I just really don't understand the lyrics.
L's act in front of Misa is pretty dirty.
Episode 21:
Episode 22:
Misa will really get in trouble if L finds out that it wasn't Higuchi who killed that guy.
Episode 23:
Thrilling.
With the way that the story is heading, and the rules of the death note, it seems that there will come a time when Light will try to kill everyone in the Kira investigation team. But of course, he will not be able to kill Matsuda since his name has been written mistakenly twice in the death note.
Episode 24:
It's pretty convenient that Higuchi confessed immediately. But really, the death note is all that they needed.
The new rules really did remove the suspicion from Light and Misa.
Light is really evil use the idea that Misa will make the deal to get the death god's eyes in order to get L's real name.
From the preview, it appears that L has already accepted that he will die.
Episode 25:
What ever happened to Wedy and Aiber?
I never expected having a song sequence. Misa appears to be sad though.
L is eating that chocolate panda bears, lol. I kind of miss eating that.
L's death is sad. The foot massage scene, which other people think is too gay, before his death scene makes it even sadder.
Episode 26:
It's funny that Light is missing L.
What ever happened to Wedy and Aiber? -> Light killed them.
He even killed the all of the members of the Yotsuba group.
Episode 27:
Matsuda likes Sayu.
Melo is evil.
Sayu became cuter.
The Misa in the sleeping attire was also cute, ecchi.
Blatantly killing everyone involved with the Japanese Kira investigation unit will be interesting.
Episode 28:
This is like the only episode where Light acts stupid. It is also fast-paced because Light did not defend his actions.
As it is, the anime is starting to get a little boring. Although, the thing is, it is still very interesting.
It's funny that Light do not have the guts to kill Sayu.
I'm really annoyed at Light for treating Misa like he does. It's horrible. Kind of like Eli treating Jackie badly from Maging Sino Ka Man. Lol.
It seems that all of those who were at Wammy's orphanage are all genius and arrogant at the same time. Actually, every smart character in the anime is arrogant.
Episode 29-30:
I don't know, I got bored.
Episode 31:
The Kira supporters were easily bought, how annoying. Just like real life.
Poor Aizawa, not being able to prove anything ever since.
The anime just got exciting again. Maybe Misaki will kill Light. hehe Also, I think Light is really a homo. I mean, he ignores Misa but likes that Misaki guy even if the two does the exact same thing?
Lol, the dragon ball like (exaggerated and smooth) writing effects are pretty funny.
Poor Misa for being used yet again.
Episode 37:
Finally it ended.
Light is looking for Misa and Takada. That is just annoying considering the way he treated both of them.
It's kind of disturbing that the author chose to end it like that. It's like, Light is evil only in the context of the anime, and not in the general sense.
It is a brilliant anime. One of the best I've seen, I must say.
